Alex Heide’s work tackles the interaction between performance and photography. Her performative approach explores private spaces, using the means of analog color photography. Interpersonal relationships and public presentations are a starting point to challenge notions and depictions of reality, addressing the very process of image production, as well as conventions of image reception. Searching for the organization and publication of private images, Heide understands the spectator, the protagonist, and subjects of the pictures, as well as the photo-technical and material parameters, as elements of the image production.
Heide studied Free Art with Dörte Eißfeldt (2005-2011) and Christoph Schlingensief (2005-2007), as well as Photography and Book Design (Diplom 2013) at HBK Braunschweig.
